At Thursday’s press conference, Senator John Corzine (D-NJ) speaks to the sleep-deprived yet energetic filibusterers about the importance of the filibuster in keeping the Judiciary just, saying, “We need to have people that reflect the mainstream of America…. People who will come with a fairness and a balance to the Court.”
This filibuster protestor (dare we say he might be a Hill intern?) looks intimidated by Campus Progress interns Marcus and Courtney.
Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is in awe of the students’ dedication to protecting the filibuster, which he says exists “to make sure the America that we know and love is not overruled by a petulant few.”

Filibuster organizer and Princeton student Peter Turner takes the stage one last time. Having read from ancient Greek texts earlier, this time he has written his own remarks and closes out both the 24-hour DC filibuster and the 384-hour Princeton filibuster by thanking students for their endurance and passion.
