In Florida, Mark Foley Is “The Beau Of The Ball”
April 15, 2008
Oh, look, isn’t that our old child molester congressman? He looks great! [ABC]
Former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL), best known as “maf54,” the screen name he used to send “sexually explicit messages” to underage male congressional pages, has “re-emerged in Palm Beach society at a charity gala.”
And folks are lovin’ it.
Socialite Dorothy Sullivan, who “co-chaired the Palm Beach Fashion Week charity gala last month” where Foley made an appearance, said, “Believe me. People were thrilled to see him…He was glad he came.”
And Mark Foley’s said, “It feels good. People have been wonderful to me…Thank God that I worked hard for these people. I think they recognize I did so much for the community, and I’m thankful for that.”
Foley’s legal status? Well, ever since the FBI turned the case over to Florida officials, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has continued “to pursue its criminal investigation of Foley despite repeated unsuccessful attempts — including a direct appeal to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — to gain access to his House computers.”
Foley, the FBI found, didn’t have sexual contact with anyone until they were at least 18 years of age…so he’s off the hook for federal charges.
But in Florida, ‘it is a third-degree felony both to use the Internet ‘to seduce, solicit, lure or entice’ a minor ‘to commit any illegal act…relating to lewdness and indecent exposure’ and to transmit any ‘information or data that is harmful to minors…via electronic mail,’ which includes instant messages.”

“The former Republican lawmaker has also been spotted at some of Palm Beach’s posh restaurants and has been working out at a local gym.” Scandalized former congressmen … they’re just like us!
