Work In Progress
Campus Progress occasionally highlights positions that are available with organizations we work with. Listings appear on this page chronologically and remain up for three months or until we are told the position is filled. Campus Progress recommends Idealist, JobsThatAreLeft, MediaBistro, and Roll Call for a more comprehensive list of job opportunities as well as listing your own organization’s openings.
Swing Semester
The nation’s attention will be on swing states this fall, and you are needed to help get out the vote. The Swing Semester 2008 program is for young adults who want to join a community of young people doing important work this fall while developing their own leadership skills and learning about some of the most cutting-edge ideas in progressive politics. Swing Semester will help you get to one of five swing state program cities (Denver, Cincinnati, Virginia Beach, Columbus, or Albuquerque) and secure a paid job with groups like ACORN and other city-specific non-profits that are working to get out the vote. Swing Semester 2008 is for anyone, 18-26, whether or not you have prior experience in organizing. You can: earn money; live for free with a swing state host family; engage with new ideas in progressive politics through swing city reading groups; and launch an event or project of your own. Editorial Research Internship, Foreign Policy
Researchers work on a variety of issues and projects for both the print edition of the magazine and our award-winning Web site, ForeignPolicy.com. It is primarily a research internship, with a heavy emphasis on writing and reporting for the Web. Researchers assist editors in planning content, fact-check articles and work with writers to ensure accuracy, proofread articles prior to publication, attend editorial meetings, and develop and propose story ideas for upcoming issues. They have the opportunity to write and work with an editor on at least one short piece (published at the editor’s discretion). Some administrative work is required. In addition, researchers regularly contribute to Passport, the blog by the editors of FP. They also represent the magazine at lectures and events around Washington. For more information, click here.
