2012 Campus Progress Journalism Training Summit

From January 13th to January 15th 2012, student journalists from around the country participated in Campus Progress’ 2012 Annual Journalism Summit. The summit was filled with speakers and trainers from diverse backgrounds who trained over 50 students on topics such as progressive journalism, ethics, social media, digital journalism, and video production. 

Neera Tanden, President of The Center for American Progress, was interviewed by Naima Ramos-Chapman, Associate Editor at Campus Progress.

Neera Tanden, President of The Center for American Progress, was interviewed by Naima Ramos-Chapman, Associate Editor at Campus Progress. Neera spoke about building relationships between journalists and policy-makers, and how journalism can be an effective tool for advocacy within the progressive movement.

Tim Harrower, an award-winning editor, designer and columnist, trained students on multiple subjects. He spoke about topics ranging from digital journalism to design and packaging tips.

The students participated in an interactive video session, where they shot video and were given basic tips and techniques on editing and creating compelling footage.
