Campus Progress Journalism Training Summit, August 2012

Young journalists from around the country came to Washington, DC to participate in Campus Progress’ 2012 Annual Journalism Network Summit. The summit included trainings and presentations from journalism professors, reporters, and bloggers. The weekend-long gathering featured sessions ranging from digital journalism and leading publications feature writing and political reporting.

Students work in groups during the interactive reporting session, where they learned how to successfully cover a press conference.

Think Progress Reporter Adam Peck and Campus Progress staffers Lydia Fiser and Brian Stewart discuss some of the best ways to lead a student publication.

Tim Harrower, award-winning editor, designer and columnist, gives tips on layout, design, and becoming a web savvy publication.

Campus Progress Associate Editor Naima Ramos-Chapman moderates the political reporting panel which featured: Pema Levy from Talking Points Memo, Scott Keyes from Think Progress, and Chris Geidner from Buzzfeed.
