Christopher Campos

Councilman Campos graduated from the American University Washington College of Law, where he served as a student attorney in the law school’s Community and Economic Development Law Clinic, providing transactional legal services for low-income groups engaged in various models of community development. He also participated in the First Year Moot Court Competition, and was a member of the Black Law Students Association, the Hispanic Law Students Association and the Diversity Committee. While a second year law student, Councilman Campos helped raise money for a hurricane relief effort where he and 35 other law students traveled to Honduras to rebuild homes devastated by Hurricane Mitch. During the summer of 1999, Councilman Campos also participated in the Comparative Law Program in Europe, studying international business, human rights and environmental law, and working with attorneys and officials from Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Switzerland. He also was selected as Denison’s 1998 Commencement Speaker—the first black studies major to be given such an honor. In addition, he participated in a conference on the State of Transformation in South Africa. From 2001-2005, Councilman Campos worked with various law firms in New Jersey. He also has served as an Intergovernmental Relations Specialist for the Commissioner of Transportation in Trenton, New Jersey, and Manager of Transportation Development for the Hudson Transportation Management Association.
