Bernard (Bernie) Kleina
Bernie Kleina is a civil rights and fair housing advocate. As the executive director of the HOPE Fair Housing Center, the oldest fair housing center in Illinois, he promotes equal housing, lending, and insurance opportunities through education, research, outreach, enforcement, training and advocacy.
Bernie is also a professional photographer and media consultant and has produced some of the most innovated and powerful audio-visual presentation on fair and affordable housing in the country. Currently, Mr. Kleina’s photography exhibit on the Chicago Freedom Movement of 1965 and 1966 is being shown in cities around the country. The images include those of Dr. King, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Andrew Young, Al Raby, Dick Gregory, and others.
