The Beehive Collective at Wesleyan University
Thursday, November 6, 2008
7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Usdan 108, Wesleyan University
Middletown, CT 06549
The Beehive Design Collective is a wildly motivated, all-volunteer, art-activist organization. The bees create collaborative, hand-illustrated posters of dizzying intricacy, all of which are anonymous and anti-copyright. They work to dispel the tradition of activism that is based on books, experts, speeches and “hoarding knowledge,” by creating communication methods that are more holistic, accessible and invite and inspire participation.
The Beehive is touring in collaboration with members of Rising Tide North America and they will be leading a workshop titled “Dismantling Monoculture”. The visual lecture will describe issues of globalization and militarization in Latin American. The collective will also explain the connection these issues have to food sustainability and resource extraction.
This event is free and open to the public.
Refreshments prepared from the farmer’s market will be served.
Sponsored by Campus Progress and the Connecticut Food Forum.
