Young people have been voting and organizing in record numbers in the past four years. Though the media doesn’t always acknowledge it, that devotion to the political process goes beyond excitement about particular candidates or music videos—it’s about important issues like the war in Iraq, climate change, civil rights, and economic mobility. How has youth participation in politics changed the political landscape already? And how can we sustain our momentum to highlight the issues we care about, hold the government and other institutions accountable, and work toward a stronger, more progressive America?
Join Katie Naranjo, President of the College Democrats of America; Josh Norek, Deputy Director of Voto Latino; Harout Samra, member of the College Republican National Committee; and Abby Kiesa, youth coordinator at CIRCLE (Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning & Engagement), for a discussion on the past, present and future of the youth vote. The panel will be moderated by Vincent Villano, an events associate at Campus Progress.
Refreshments will be served. Sponsored by Campus Progress.
