Campus Progress and HBO are co-sponsoring the premiere of an episode of “Generation Kill,” a new seven-part miniseries about the Iraq War invasion. “Generation Kill,” executive produced and co-written by David Simon and Ed Burns, the team behind the critically acclaimed HBO series “The Wire,” tells the true story of U.S. Marines of the elite First Reconnaissance Battalion whose unit was part of the first wave of the American military assault on Baghdad in 2003. The drama is based upon the award-winning nonfiction book of the same name by Evan Wright, who serves as co-writer and consulting producer. Following the screening there will be a Q & A with producer and co-writer David Simon, producer and co-writer Ed Burns, “Generation Kill” author Evan Wright, and U.S. Marine and key military advisor to “Generation Kill” Staff Sergeant Eric Kocher. The Q & A will be moderated by Clyde Williams, former adviser to President Bill Clinton.
