Campus Progress Spoken Word: Protest through Poetry

Please join Campus Progress on Wednesday, June 25 as we spotlight America’s most dynamic and fearless voices on the spoken word scene. There will be performances by: Droopy Anderson, host of Mocha Hut’s Open Mic Poetry; Alvin Lau, professional performance poet and Amnesty International’s “Poet of Conscience;” Laura Perez, a former member of the DC Youth Slam Team and the current president of Poutre’, Howard University’s premier poetry organization; Mario Rocha, Latino poet from East LA; and Triflava, a “progressive hip hop and beyond” band known for their versatile use of instruments to promote positive messages to audiences.
Enter our open mic contest by submitting video of yourself performing 3 original pieces to posullivan@americanprogress.org. The winner will perform one poem to open the night’s performance.
Refreshments will be served!
This event is free and open to young people interested in creative protest.
