Smita Satiani

Smita Satiani serves as a certified Sexual Assault Counselor for the State of California, and a former policy associate the nation’s largest anti-sexual assault organization, RAINN in Washington, D.C.

She has been invited to speak on various panels and media venues at the University of Miami, American University, Cal-State Fullerton, and on Capitol Hill, NPR radio and the Dr. Phil show.

While at RAINN, she lobbied on several anti-crime and women’s advocacy issues, including reducing the DNA backlog and expanding services for victims.

Prior to RAINN, Satiani served as a field organizer for MoveOn.org Political Action during the 2006 mid-term elections which focused on over 50 races in the U.S.

Satiani graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in Criminology/Law and minors in Political Science and Women’s Studies, and has also studied at the University of Cambridge in the U.K.

She is currently completing her M.P.P. with a specialization in international crime policy at the University of Southern California.
