Campus Progress and The Nation
National Youth Journalism Conference
Wednesday, July 9, 2008
9:00AM – 6:00PM
Center for American Progress
1333 H St., NW, 10th floor
Washington, D.C., 20005 Join Campus Progress and The Nation magazine for a day of workshops, skill sessions, and panel discussions with award-winning editors and writers from the nation’s top publications. The day is modeled on successful journalism conferences Campus Progress and The Nation have put on in D.C. and Los Angeles. You’ll have the chance to hear from great speakers, network with journalists, and learn the skills you need to succeed in journalism. Past speakers include Barbara Ehrenreich, Eric Schlosser, Naomi Klein, E.J. Dionne, Helen Thomas, and Seymour Hersh. We are expecting a capacity crowd, so we ask that those who would like to attend to make a commitment to stay for the entire day out of respect to the speakers and prospective attendees on the waiting list.
Confirmed speakers include: - Eugene Robinson, columnist and associate editor, The Washington Post
- Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor and publisher, The Nation
- Asra Nomani, former reporter, The Wall Street Journal; author, "Standing Alone in Mecca"
- Chris Hayes, Washington editor, The Nation
- Mathew Yglesias, associate editor, The Atlantic Monthly
- Anya Kamenetz, author, “Generation Debt”; staff writer, Fast Company
