Why on earth would Campus Progress blur out the face of Ronald Reagan in this strip? What a revolting display of spinelessness. I guess liberals really do lack resolve.
I agree with the first post – this is not just cowardly, but non-sensical. McFadden’s comics are great for having multiple funny parts per strip, so I can’t say that it killed “the” punchline – but it definitely neutered an important panel.
But you neutered it in a ridiculous way. Damn, either kill the entire joke or don’t, but to be half-assed about it disrespects his work while maintaining a facade of progressivism. I mean, there are apologists that fawn over Nixon and Thurmond, as well. I’m glad that all three weren’t redacted – but to only do Reagan’s face is just weird. To quote Clerks, “No, all I’m sayin’ is that if you’re gonna be insubordinate, you might as well go the full nine.”
In one “South Park”, Kyle said to the producer of “Family Guy” that “either it’s okay to make fun of everything, or nothing is”. I think that quote needs to be played in whoever made Brian censor Reagan.
