Liz Funk

Liz Funk is an upstate New York-based author, freelance writer, and speaker who focuses on women’s and college student wellness. Her first book, “Supergirls Speak Out: Inside the Secret Crisis of Overachieving Girls,” a look at the limiting female ideal and pressure on young women to be perfect in Generation Y, was published by Simon and Schuster in March 2009. Liz has appeared on the Today Show and the Bill Handel Show, and she regularly talks to the media about modern girlhood and wellness in Gen Y. Liz has written for USA Today, Newsday, the Washington Post, the Christian Science Monitor, the Huffington Post, CosmoGIRL!, Girls’ Life, Mediabistro, and Campus Progress. She is a senior fellow of Young People For, and has received awards from Choice USA, Teen Voices magazine, and the NYS Attorney General’s Office for her writing and activism.
