Jessica “FM Supreme” Disu
For the past ten years, Chicago native FM Supreme has been building her reputation as a well-known writer, poet and activist.
FM Supreme has not only been a top competitor in Chicago’s youth slam scene but she has also produced four albums and has performed at large venues across the country. Supreme has shared the stage with MC Lyte, Kool Herc, Dirty Digital, N.O.R.E., Boys II Men, The Clipse, Billy Brand & the SOB’s and Saul Williams. Along with DJ Itch 13, Supreme launched the 7-day Backseat Passenger Tour which featured Jyroscope and included stops in Chicago, New York City and Boston.
FM Supreme was featured in the 2008 summer issue of VenusZine magazine as one of the top artists to watch and she has also been featured on Chicago Public Radio, NPR, WTTW, WGN and in The Chicago Tribune.
When FM Supreme is not performing, she spends much of her time studying and giving back to the community. Supreme mentors young children and she also spoke at the 2006 National Hip Hop Convention on the topic of misogyny in hip-hop and gentrification. Supreme hopes to use her influence as an African-American woman artist and academic to educate and bring about positive change in the community.
