Late Friday, lawmakers in Albany voted across party lines to legalize same-sex marriage in New York. The law is scheduled to officially go into effect on July 24th. Over the weekend, supporters celebrated the victory all over the state. In New York City – which, conveniently, was hosting the annual New York Pride festival at the same time – the Empire State Building even went rainbow

Campus Progress applauds this long overdue vote, and congratulates everyone who fought so hard for it to pass. To read our full statement, click here.
