Nation Investigation Finds Lou Dobbs Hired Undocumented Immigrants
Lou Dobbs, the former CNN television host that ardently spoke against employers hiring undocumented immigrants, has himself relied on this workforce to tend to his multimillion dollar estates and prize horses.
The Nation and the Investigative Fund at the Nation Institute led a yearlong investigation that included interviews with five undocumented immigrants that worked for Dobbs—one of them claimed to have to worked twelve-hour days on average. Dobbs “knew very well that the majority of us didn’t have papers,” said one of the workers.
This comes as no surprise these days, as other high-profile figures who speak out against undocumented immigrant labor reveal just how dependent Americans are to this workforce. California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman was also just recently exposed as having hired an undocumented worker, in spite of having a fiercely anti-immigrant political platform.
Dobbs has refused to comment on The Nation’s investigation.
